Every Monday The Director of the Mütter Museum takes a minute to showcase an item from our collection. This week Robert showcases a Plica Polonica or Polish Plait. This type of hair was typically created when people with long hair didn’t wash or comb their hair. This particular one grew down to her ankles. Polish Plaits were found to be stylish at the time and even some considered them to have magical powers.
