Shepard Recreation Center, Philadelphia – with Swoop! (5700 Haverford Avenue Philadelphia Pennsylvania, 19131)
Shepard Recreation Center is committed to providing innovative athletic and educational programs for the Haddington community and the greater West Philadelphia area. The Shepard Recreation Center has a rich history of sports and athletics. Comcast Cares Day volunteers, joined by Philadelphai Eagles’ mascot Swoop, will work together to beautify and revitalize the recreation center both inside and out. We’ll clean, paint, landscape and help Shepard continue to serve the community.
P.S. If you sneak a few minutes to play on the playground, we won’t tell anyone!
Monkiewicz Playground – Philadelphia (3201 Richmond Street Philadelphia Pennsylvania, 19134)
Sitting on 4.4 acres, Monkiewicz Playground recreation facility has a basketball court, a hockey court, two sport fields, three tennis courts and four baseball fields. Comcast Cares Day volunteers will work together to revitalize the playground and ball fields. We’ll clean, paint, and landscape, so Monkiewicz can continue to serve the community. Channel your inner Picasso by helping to restore whimsical murals on several concrete posts that are popular within the community but have been damaged by the elements over the years. This is a perfect project for older children and adults who are young at heart.

Next door, the Mann Older Adult Community Center is a multi-service senior center offering congregate meals, recreation, education, health service, transportation, counseling, ceramics, volunteer programs and informal resources. Comcast Cares Day volunteers, along with the Phillie Phanatic, will work together to beautify and revitalize both centers inside and out.
