5.11.15: Philadelphia – (Politics): Several millennial-led community and civic groups are searching for the 80 percent of registered voters whose votes are consistently missing from the tally on Election Day in Philadelphia.
Last Friday, at City Hall, a press conference was arranged to announce Voter Education Week, an effort powered by Young Involved Philadelphia, Influencing Action Movement, CrowdPac and Unity in the Community, the latter organization is led by 2014 CBS3 Philly Game Changer, Mr. Anton Moore. Their collective efforts aim to empower and educate those Philadelphians who, for whatever reason, feel that their voice isn’t loud enough to break through to the bureaucracy, resulting in the sentiment that their vote ultimately doesn’t matter.
“Every vote matters and every voice deserves to be heard,” said Ms. Felicia D. Harris, President/CEO, Influencing Action Movement, who’ll be sponsoring a “IAM Voting Bar Talk” on Friday, May 15th, at Rueben’s Marc at 8131 Stenton Ave.

Ms. Harris and her colleagues have organized a week full of events, starting with a 10am “Why I Vote” Twitter Chat led by @PhilaCOL on Tuesday, May 12th, to a canvassing training on Saturday, May 16th, led by YIP.
“It’s time for millennials to start believing not just in non-profits and the power of disruptive for-profits, but to start believing in the inherent good of a government and demand the tough conversations are had and that solutions are found here,” said Mr. Nick Marzano, President, YIP.
Mr. Marzano, who touted the enormity of the millennial voting bloc – there’s more than 300,000 of them, he noted – has organized on Friday, May 15th, a “Get Out to Vote Phone Bank,” with the dial set to ring only the under-voters.
“Let’s not cross our fingers and hope slogans and Op-Eds convince millennials to show up on May 19th,” he said, adding “Let’s rock the vote!”
