3.24.17: Philadelphia – (Politics): Outraged Philadelphia residents on Monday morning are encouraged to convene at 8:45am in front of the Office of the District Attorney to amplify the call for Mr. Seth Williams, who earlier this week was indicted on corruption charges, to resign from his post as the City’s top law enforcement officer.
Following such declarations from the Mayor and every candidate who is campaigning for the job of District Attorney, Mr. Asa Khalif of Black Lives Matter Pennsylvania, Mr. Greg Brinkley, former President of the Philadelphia chapter of the National Action Network and I, all who expressed no confidence in Mr. Williams in 2013 after his office imprisoned a wrongfully accused teen and ignored the presented evidence that cleared his name, are renewing our call for him to step down while creating a space, entitled ‘Rallying for a Resignation: Ruthless Seth Williams Must Go,’ for disappointed and disillusioned taxpayers to give voice to their feelings and, too, echo our sentiment.
Mr. Williams has been accused by the federal government of standing ready to perform official actions as favors in return for gifts from businessmen. But it’s the wire fraud charge, the idea that a son would defraud the nursing home where his sick mother lives, that has people seething.

Mr. Brinkley noticed that Mr. Williams, adopted into his current family, almost always mentions his mother, and how grateful he is to have her, and so this particular allegation Mr. Brinkley finds “slimy” and unforgivable.
“He’s a fuck up… He’s been a fuck up… He fucks ups so much that he’s earned the title, ‘Mr. Fuck Up.’ He needs to step down and I have no doubt he will be found guilty,” Mr. Brinkley, who worked as a private investigator on the Brandon Tate-Brown shooting – a fatal December 2014 police-involved incident where Mr. Williams sided with the cops and refused to take a second look at the case once the original narrative was debunked – told me.
Mr. Khalif, who was a cousin to the late Mr. Tate-Brown and who has protested inside and outside the District Attorney’s Office many times, said he’s “disgusted” by what Mr. Williams is alleged to have done to his mother, who has Parkinson’s Disease, and told me his protest on Monday will be in solidarity with the ailing victim.
“I’m standing up for mama,” said Mr. Khalif, who’s referring to the charge that Mr. Williams diverted his mother’s SSI and pension payments to his bank account in order to pay for his mortgage, restaurant tabs and other personal expenses. “And mama said to knock you out!”
